Discoverer of the Anti-addictive Effect of ibogaine Passed Away

Howard S. Lotsof, 67, discoverer of the anti-addictive effect of ibogaine, died of liver cancer on Sunday January 31, 2010 in Staten Island.

Mr. Lotsof was the first individual to observe the effect of ibogaine, a naturally occurring plant alkaloid with a history of use as a ritual ethnobotanical in Africa, in detoxification from heroin. He subsequently originated patents for the use of ibogaine in treating addictions, including opioids, cocaine and amphetamine, alcohol, and nicotine.

Mr. Lotsof has continued his devotion to Ibogaine until his last days. His immense contribution to the future of the more than 200 million people with a drug dependence worldwide deserves great respect and recognition

Howard Lotsof was a pioneer and inspiration to many, having initiated a rapidly growing 'underground' movement worldwide.

IFIP expresses our deepest condolence with his wife Norma for the loss of this great man.
We are dedicated to the continuance of his life-work.

Mr. Lotsof is survived by his wife, Norma, and sisters Rosalie Falato and Holly Weiland.

hacer por él es colocar mi pequeño grano de arena para que la cadena continue. gracias a Uds, por la parte que les corresponde

Dear Norma & Family,

I cherish with gratitude that I was able to meet Howard and you one year ago at the first conference for the Federation of Ibogaine Providers in Sayulita, Mexico presented in honor of Howard Lotsof.

My heart and my mind will be permanently engraved with the memory of Howard and his enormous tenacity and fortitude to contribute his lifetime to making the World a better place through his mission of teaching his findings about Ibogaine among many other things.

I personally thank Howard for his findings and that Ibogaine was channeled in our families direction and offered such positive results and changes beneficially.

I thank you Norma and hope to share future times and memories together.

With Warmest Love,

Suzi

Thank you Howard for your kindness; help and support; and to those nearest and dearest my sincerest condolences. It just shows what a difference one person can make; and there are those who will continue the work. RIP.

All my love and sympathies to Norma and family/friends of Howard.
I met Howard on several different occasions and he was very kind with regards to the documentary I made about my detox using ibogaine (Detox or Die).
I feared the documentary might seem a bit sensationalistic and he might be offended by it in some way. It was just a catalogue of my experiences leading up to my ibogaine treatment and I showed both the pros and the cons of the journey I undertook.
Howard totally understood my approach and applauded me for highlighting the treatment. If Howard hadn't discovered the wondrous properties of iboga then there would be no documentary and numerous people who have sought out ibogaine from watching the film might still be addicts.
God bless Howard Lotsoff. Love to you Norma! He was a great man indeed.
Love

Dear Norma,
I spoke by phone with Howard in October 2009 and we then e-mailed each other a few times. I interviewed him by telephone. His voice sounded tired, but he had such a great spirit and warm heart! He answered to all the questions for my article about Ibogaine. I felt honored. I will never forget his work and will do my best to continue spreading the word everywhere in the world about Ibogaine. My condolences to you and the family. Much Love to you and yours!

Dearest Howard,
Paul J. Meyer once said "Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass." You have been a true example of this. Your incredible dedication to what you deeply believe in, until your last days, has inspired many others to make it their dream as well. I deeply hope you are watching from above, with a smile and feeling of accomplishment, how we all continue what you have started...
Love you deeply.
